Payment Methods
1. Out of Network Reimbursment (Insurance)
We are a private pay practice and thus an out of network provider. This means, if your insurance plan includes out of network coverage (coverage for out of network providers) we will provide you with invoicing, billing information, and any other documentation you need to submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. Most families who use their out of network benefits with us are able to receive 70 – 80% reimbursement.
Out of network coverage varies from plan to plan. Many families who have the following plans take advantage of their out-of-network benefits: Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Empire Blue Cross, Oxford, Aetna, United, Emblem Health, and Multi Plan.
2. Using a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
If you have a health plan through a job, you can use a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for health care costs, like deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and some drugs. They can lower your taxes.
Another way to manage your health care expenses is to enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA)-eligible plan (also called a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)) and open an HSA, a type of savings account that lets you set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for qualified medical expenses (like some dental, drug, and vision expenses).
3. Tax Deductions
Speech therapy costs may be deductible as medical expenses if they exceed 7.5% of your family’s adjusted gross income (check with a tax advisor).
4. Child Only Grant (Non-Parent Caregiver Grant) NYC
In New York City, the Child Only Grant, also known as the Non-Parent Caregiver Grant, provides a monthly cash grant to caregivers raising children who are not their biological or adopted children. This grant is determined by the needs of the child and not by the caregiver’s income.
